The Glossemera extension lets you select any word or sentence on any website and save it, with an AI explanation, straight into your vocabulary and notes. It works on Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. This guide walks you through setup and use.

Save words

Select a word to get an instant AI definition, pronunciation, and example, saved to your vocabulary.

Capture grammar notes

Select a phrase or sentence and save it as a grammar note, explained at your level.

Study it later

Everything you save flows into your normal reviews and spaced repetition inside the app.

Download the extension

Download the extension package and unzip it somewhere you will keep it (for example a "Glossemera" folder in your Documents). Your browser loads the extension from this folder, so do not delete it after installing.

Log in to download

You need a free Glossemera account to download the extension and to connect it. Sign up free.

Add it to your browser

The extension is loaded from the folder you just unzipped. Pick your browser below.

Google Chrome

  1. Open a new tab and go to chrome://extensions.
  2. Turn on Developer mode (toggle, top right).
  3. Click Load unpacked.
  4. Select the unzipped glossemera-extension folder.
  5. Pin it: click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar, then the pin next to Glossemera.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open a new tab and go to edge://extensions.
  2. Turn on Developer mode (toggle, left side).
  3. Click Load unpacked.
  4. Select the unzipped glossemera-extension folder.
  5. Pin it from the toolbar's extensions menu so it is always one click away.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open a new tab and go to about:debugging, then choose This Firefox.
  2. Click Load Temporary Add-on.
  3. Open the glossemera-extension folder and select the manifest file inside it.
  4. The icon appears in your toolbar, ready to connect.

In Firefox a temporary add-on is removed when you close the browser, so you load it again the same way next time.

Connect it to your account

  1. Click the Glossemera icon in your browser toolbar to open it.
  2. In Server URL, enter https://glossemera.com.
  3. In the app, open your Profile and, in the Browser Extension section, click Manage API Tokens.
  4. On the API Tokens page, click Generate Token, then copy the token that appears. It is shown only once.
  5. Paste the token into the extension's API Token box and click Connect.
  6. When it shows Connected as you with your level, you are ready.

Start learning from the web

  • Select a single word on any page, then click Add to vocabulary. The word is enriched with an AI definition and saved with the sentence you found it in.

  • Select a phrase or sentence, then choose Add notes to save its grammar as a study note, explained at your level.

  • Everything you save appears in the app, in your Vocabulary list and My Notes, ready for review.

Good to know

Your token is your key. You can create or revoke tokens any time on the API Tokens page. Revoking one instantly disconnects the extension that was using it.

One account, any browser. The same token works in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, so you can connect the extension on more than one browser.

Free and Pro. Saving vocabulary counts toward your plan's usage, the same as adding words inside the app.
